Dorothy E. Wright
Dorothy Enid (Lambertson) Wright, 104, formerly of 10 Congress Street, Greenfield, MA and whose death occurred on February 1, 2021, following a period of declining health at the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Facility, East Longmeadow, MA.
A native of Swampscott, MA, she was born on August 22, 1916 to Charles and Isabelle (Shaw) Lambertson. Dorothy was educated in Lynn Public Schools and was a graduate of Lynn High in the Class of 1934.
Dorothy owned and operated a private nursery and preschool center for many years in Carlisle, MA. She had many interests that included crafting, needle point, crewel, toale painting and knitting. Dorothy was an accomplished tap and ballet dancer and was often found participating in Community Theater. She was a former 4H leader and attended the Universalist Unitarian Church. She married Stanley Dana Wright and resided for many years in Carlisle, MA, later moving to Sutton, NH. Following the death of her husband, Dorothy moved to Greenfield, MA in 1997 to be closer to her daughter Susan Garfield-Wright and her family.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Nancy W. Conklin, of Holderness, NH; Son-in-law Michael Garfield-Wright of Greenfield, MA; grandchildren: Amy Waters, Rebecca Purdy, Thomas Conklin, Hannah Apostoldis, Leah Garfield-Wright and Sylvia Garfield-Wright, in addition to her great granddaughters Kendra, Serona, Marcy, Erika and Cameron and several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, her husband Stanley Dana Wright and her daughters: Judith Lee Wright and Susan Elizabeth Garfield-Wright and by her siblings.
At Dorothy’s request and interest in simplicity, a private inurnment following cremation will take place in the Green Cemetery, Carlisle, MA at the convenience of the family. Visiting hours are omitted. Expressions of affection in the form of a charitable donation in Dorothy’s memory, are suggested in lieu of flowers to the charity of the donor’s choice.
