Catherine L. (Kellyhouse) Berry, 96, formerly of Turners Falls, MA passed peacefully on Monday, February 1, 2021 in York, ME. She was born on March 12, 1924 in Colrain, MA (Griswoldville Village) the daughter of Harvey and Bertha (Thompson) Kellyhouse. Catherine attended local public schools and the former Arms Academy.
She married Ernest G. Berry on November 7, 1942 in the former St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church in Turners Falls, MA and they celebrated 42 years of marriage prior to his passing in 1984.
Catherine was employed as a receptionist for Dr. Edmund Olchowski, DDS, for several years before she began working at the former Franklin Savings Institution, the Heritage Bank for Savings and retired in May of 1986. She was a former communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church in Turners Falls, MA and was a member of their Women’s Group.
She enjoyed reading, playing cards and remembering times gone by, but especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Catherine, an eternal optimist, believed that every day presented new opportunity.
Among her survivors she leave her daughters, Cheryl Lambert and her husband Gary of Agawam, MA and Cathy Tessier and her husband Jim of Eliot, ME, as well as her 5 grandchildren: Michelle Fortier of Agawam, MA, Kristin Finn (David) of Erving, MA, Mark Lambert (Valerie) of Mamaroneck, NY, Jeff Tessier (Ayne) of Lutz, FL and Joy St. Pierre (William) of Berwick, ME. Additionally, she leaves 12 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren who she loved dearly. She is also survived by her sister Jean Goldthwaite and several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews and by her sister-in-law, Margaret Kellyhouse. Catherine was predeceased by her parents, her husband Ernest, brothers Harvey and Kenneth Kellyhouse, as well as her sisters Arlene Lemay and Barbara Berry.
A celebration of Catherine’s life and many gifts will be observed at a later date and time to be announced due to COVID-19 considerations, at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls, MA. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Turners Falls, MA.
